# Glossary

**Non-Fungible Token (NFT):**

A non-fungible token is a valuable piece of data comprised of a cryptographic token that represents an object and is linked to a digital identity. This data is saved and validated with the use of a blockchain protocol, which gives it its original value. NFTs can be obtained as a reward while playing crypto games or purchased with a certain quantity of needed token. However, once sold, the owner loses complete ownership.

**Play-to-Earn (P2E) games:**

Making money in the gaming economy is a practice that is as old as the gaming industry itself. And with skills like game development, game publishing, creating game content, amongst many others, it is almost assured that one will make some good amount of money in the gaming business. However, the concept of “play to earn” is relatively new, and it appeals to a new generation of gamers. The concept of “play to earn” is simple. You earn rare items (NFTs) by playing games and selling them for real money. The game itself provides the platform and tools needed to complete this transaction. The most notable feature is that transactions are done in cryptocurrency – the reason why these games are usually called crypto games or NFT games.

**Overview:**

The play-to-earn market is still in its infancy today, with 36 billion in value expected by 2026. That is why Gayya wants to help more people get a head start in this industry by renting out NFTs to them that the guild owns to create a better gaming experience. The $GAYYA token or another NFT could be used as collateral.
